When you get up in the morning you can now stretch pick up your New York Times and water the garden with it. Not really. The New York Times that you know continues to be what they are, a leading newspaper. However it seems that the Times are not satisfied with their revenues and are branching out, looking for new opportunities to earn more money while having their say. Their latest product offering, the New York Times Garden Expert, is shaped like a flattened water can and has a digital display in front with eight green navigation buttons on the top and bottom of the display. Of course it proudly displays the product name in typical New York Times font at the top of the “can”.
The New York Times Garden Expert might look like a watering can but is actually a database of gardening factoids gathered over time from the newspaper’s gardening column, Garden Q & A. You will be surprised at how much information has been printed out by the Times about gardening along through the years. The database contains 1000 questions and answers covering topics like different kinds of flowers, landscaping, kitchen gardens, potted gardens, garden keeping/care, and all the things you need to turn into a green thumb. Of course if you don’t throw away your old newspaper you can thumb through your old copies to come up with the same facts and you’ll save $20 dollars in the process although it might take you weeks to find what you are looking for.
