So what is so special about this day anyway? A couple of days ago, the online techie grapevine was burning with the news that the iPhone might be released on the 29th of June. Then, there was no real confirmation from the powers that be. Today, we are sure (I hope) that we can get our hands on the iPhone in 4 weeks!
The first ever commercial for the iPhone was aired on 60 Minutes. I don’t know anything about Apple’s choice of airing their first ad but it seems that the iPhone’s perky didn’t match the theme for the show that night. I couldn’t blame them – the guests were Jack Kevorkian, Vanessa Redgrave, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Top that combination with the iPhone ad and you’ve got a really interesting thing going on.
Anyhow, the ad mentioned the launch date (June 29 in case you missed that) so we are pretty sure that we can start getting that money ready and fall in line to get the first ever batch of iPhones which we have been waiting for. Just a reminder, though: you have to sign that 2-years contract to get ahold of this baby. For an Apple fan, I’d say that is a small price to pay, isn’t it?
If you missed the first airing, visit the Apple web site to see their TV ads. They actually have three different versions, namely “Never Been an iPod,” “How To,” and “Calamari.” Now we don’t know about you but seafood is sounding really good right now!
