Front Design has taken the concept of flipping panels and put it into use to in creating the Changing Cupboard. The Changing Cupboard is an ordinary cupboard in function but one look at it shows how unique it is. Even from just the picture shown here the pixel design is already eye-catching. If you see it first hand or watch a video of it at work, you’ll see why it is even more special.

The Changing Cupboard literally changes its display every few seconds. Look away for just a moment and you will see a totally different design. Sure it will still be made up of huge black, white and gray pixels but the pattern would be totally different. The Changing Cupboard works just like the billboard ad panels rotating ever so often at the same time but the results are completely different since the display isn’t set, unlike in most billboard panels where you get to watch set displays (ads) take turns being shown. The exact mechanism behind the Changing Cupboard isn’t revealed.

The cupboard is part of Front Design’s new collection - FOUND. The concept behind the FOUND collection is to “put together ordinary already existing things and changed some details [and allowing] the small characteristics within one object become the essence of the new product.” It seems that this cupboard that is built out of ad panels is more than just an interesting piece of furniture but a lesson in found objects art.
