Truly, the internet has become a very essential and reliable tool in most people’s lives. It’s like a one-stop shop which allows you to do almost everything you need to accomplish with just a few clicks on your mouse.

In support of this claim, a 2006 survey by CheckFree and Lieberman Research Worldwide confirmed that there are now more people who trust the internet when it concerns the financial management aspect of their life. The survey done by Lieberman, a company focusing on consumer segmentation research based in Los Angeles, California, was a follow-up to a 2004 study that monitored the bills-payment behavior of Americans.

The survey further revealed that Americans are no longer very concerned about online security compared to their attitude in 2004 and that they now have more confidence over the electronic billing and payment systems. This is attributed to their increased awareness on identity theft and prevention measures taken by authorities.

The Lieberman research specifically pointed out that the number of people who did not trust the internet before went down from 60 percent in 2004 to only 18 percent in 2006. In addition, 37 percent of the 1,200 online consumers surveyed said they consider online payment as safer than mailing a paper check.
