Anti-cellphone Senator Crashed Her Car Due to Phone Call

June 11th, 2007 · No Comments

Senator

California Senator Carole Midgen rear-ended a 2005 Honda Sedan after reaching for her ringing phone. Critics of course are quick to point out that Sen. Midgen was actually of the the senators who voted for the use of a headpiece or an earpiece be required when using the phone while driving. While the senator was technically not yet on the phone when she crashed into the Honda she WAS reaching for it, which caused her to be distracted from her driving. The accident happened on Highway 12 in Solano County where Senator Midgen was driving around because she apparently go lost on the way to a meeting. The Senator was driving in her state-issued 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV which was a new (but now scratched) replacement to her old state-issued 2005 Cadillac STS.

There were no independent witnesses to the accident. The senator was given and passed the breathalyzer test proving that she was not under the influence of alcohol. No charges were filed nor was any citation issued, which is what usually happens for minor accidents.

The driver of the Honda Senator Midgen rear-ended suffered from minor injuries. The Senator was unscathed although her reputation, of course, isn’t. Though this will probably count against her the senator can at least say that she is now living proof that cellphones are indeed driving hazards.
